Papain

 

*PAPAIN

In nature can be used, in cream or when liofilizated dissolved in physiologic saline solution (0,9%). 

COMPOSITIon

- it is composed by enzymes proteolitics and peroxidasis: papain, quimiopapain "A" and "B" and papayapeptidase.

action mechanism

- it acts as chemical debridement.
- in has bacteriostatic action, bactericide and anti-inflammatory.
- it provides alignment of the fibers of collagen promoting growth uniform tecidual.

INDICAtion

- chemical debridement and facilitator of the process cicatricial. 
- treatment of wounds infected as helping of the sistemic antibioticotherapy. 

aDVANTAGE

- it makes selective debridement, 
- it can be associated the other types of coverings.

aPLICATION WAY

- in the presence of tissue granulation the concentration should be of 2%.
- in the presence of liquefaction necrosis it should be washed in jets with papain solution from 4 to 6% diluted in physiologic saline solution. It can be applied in the wounded gauzes soaked in this solution. 
- in the presence of clotting necrosis in the concentration from 8 to 10%, after making the escarectomy. 

dressing change

-  it is indicated of 12 at 24 hours.
